Natif de Pouilly, de parents promoteurs, Alexandre Bain est né sans vigne. Il s’installe en 2007 sur 5 hectares au lieu-dit Boisfleury (tendance argilo-calcaire) et signe cette même année son premier millésime. Il doit son goût de la terre à son grand-père agriculteur. Il le conjugue à son autre passion, la traction animale, puisqu’il travaille en labour à cheval une partie de son vignoble. Adepte de la culture biodynamique, il récolte des sauvignons mûrs, élevés en fût en sulfitant très peu. Ni levurés, ni chaptalisés, ni filtrés, ses vins se revendiquent naturels et sont dorés, généreux, parfois plus aboutis en bouche qu’au nez. Pouilly-Fumé retire l’appellation à partir de 2014 aux vins d’Alexandre Bain, lesquels, sans doute, détonnent trop au milieu du formatage satisfait, qui sert d’unique horizon à tant de vignerons du coin. Peu importe, une nouvelle étoile est née, dont nous prédisons que la renommée ira grandissante… à l’inverse de celle de l’appellation.

La cuvée Champ Couturier 2019 du domaine Alexandre Bain est issue d'une parcelle de vieilles vignes de Sauvignon sur l'appellation Pouilly Fumé. Sur ce millésime, Alexandre a poussé l'élevage à 60 mois avec une partir élevée sous voile dans un style purement jurassien à la manière de Ganevat. Le nez de ce vin nous révèle de magnifiques notes de curry, de fruits secs, d'agrumes confits, d'épices douces et de noix fraiches. La bouche est équilibrée entre le gras et l'acidité. Une belle minéralité arrive ensuite avec de beaux amers sur une finale longue. Un très grand Sauvignon vinifié à la jurassienne. INCROYABLE !
